NorthWood Girls Volleyball continued its strong start to Northern Lakes Conference play Thursday night, earning a straight-set victory on the road at Mishawaka. The Red Slam controlled the varsity match from start to finish, defeating the Cavemen 25-18, 25-19, 25-17 for the 3-0 sweep. With the victory, NorthWood improves to 11-7 overall and 3-0 in the NLC. Ella Branham led the NorthWood attack with 21 kills while adding 14 digs and seven blocks, making an impact throughout the match. Krystal Hershberger added six kills and two blocks. From the service line, Abby Schmucker recorded a team-high four aces, while Kenzie Miller added two. Schmucker also finished with 17 assists, just behind Allie Yoder's 18 assists. Defensively, Nola Nephew added eight digs. It was a successful night throughout the NorthWood program as all three levels picked up victories. The junior varsity Panthers battled through three sets to earn a 25-20, 17-25, 15-7 victory. Presley Lechlitner led the JV attack with eight kills, while Lily Thompson and Grace Thompson each added five. The JV improves to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play. NorthWood's freshman team completed the program sweep with a 2-0 victory, defeating Mishawaka 25-16, 25-20. The three wins capped a strong night on the road for the Red Slam, highlighted by another NLC victory for the varsity Panthers.
