NorthWood and Jimtown went the distance Thursday night, with the Red Slam falling in a tightly contested five-set varsity match at NorthWood. NorthWood opened the night in control, capturing the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores. Jimtown responded, however, taking the third set 25-17 before edging the Panthers 25-23 in the fourth to force a deciding fifth set. The final frame remained competitive, but Jimtown secured the match with a 15-13 victory, handing NorthWood the home loss. Krystal Hershberger led the NorthWood attack with 11 kills, while Emily DeFreitas added nine. At the net, Addie Davis recorded six blocks and Hershberger contributed four. Defensively, Nola Nephew turned in a strong performance with a match-high 32 digs. Kenzie Miller added 14 digs for the Red Slam. NorthWood's setters also split the offensive workload, with Abby Schmucker distributing 23 assists and Allie Yoder adding 16. The loss moves the Red Slam to 3-5 on the season. NorthWood will return to action Saturday at the Northridge Tournament. ==================================================== JV and Freshman Results: NorthWood's younger squads both earned victories over Jimtown. The junior varsity team improved to 4-2 with a 2-0 sweep, winning 25-15 and 25-11. Presley Lechlitner led the Panthers with five kills, while Claire Cunningham recorded four. Audrey Cramer, Lechlitner, and Lily Thompson each contributed two aces. The freshman team also swept Jimtown, winning 25-11, 25-11 to complete a strong night for NorthWood's lower-level teams.
