Heckathorn, Tompos Earn Doubles Victory as Panthers Fall at Fairfield

NorthWood Boys Tennis hosted Fairfield on Monday, where the Panthers fell 4–1 in varsity competition while the junior varsity squad came away with a 6–4 victory. NorthWood’s varsity point came at No. 1 doubles, where seniors Eli Heckathorn and Ethan Tompos defeated Fairfield’s Adler Bender and Zach Mehlberg in straight sets, 6–3, 6–4. Fairfield controlled the three singles positions. Nolan Tompos fell to Drew Beachy at No. 1 singles, 6–0, 6–0, while Carter Rose dropped a 6–3, 6–0 decision to Ben Penrose at No. 2. Aiden McEndarfer was defeated by Ethan Clem, 6–2, 6–0, at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles, Sebastian Chapman and Colton Ewers fell to Easton Garber and Justus Herbert, 6–1, 6–2. The Panthers found success throughout the junior varsity lineup, winning six of the 10 contested matches. Brody Freeland, Nerick Sanchez and Sawyer Love each earned singles victories. Freeland posted an 8–1 win, Sanchez won 8–4 and Love added another 8–1 victory. NorthWood also captured three doubles matches. Robbie Yoder and Brinqley Parvu-Timmer earned an 8–2 victory, while Jack Johnson and Brody Freeland won a close 8–6 match. Jackson Kemp and Parvu-Timmer completed the JV scoring with an 8–0 shutout. The varsity Panthers move to 1–2 overall on the season, while the JV squad improves to 1–0–1. NorthWood is to host Bremen tonight.
